J.S "Bud" Parrish is serving as the sixth Director of Missions in over 30

years of long associational service of missions directors to Robeson

County and surrounding counties. Since 2006, Bud has visited and

worked with all of the churches in the association on a personal basis.

Understanding that the needs of the association are tremendously

diverse, Bud seeks to provide God-centered leadership to a county area

with five distinct ethnic groups and one of the lowest average incomes

in the state of North Carolina.

Mary Lynn Davis has served as Administrative Assistant for the

association for over 30 years. She has a strong history of service not

only to the association but to the community at large. She has a heart

for missions and is very active in her church. If you need information

about any of the area churches, Mary Lynn is the encyclopedia you

 need to contact.

The Robeson Baptist Association was officially organized at Raft Swamp Baptist Church

November 1, 1883. Twenty-six churches united to form a new association. Most of these

churches had formerly belonged to the Cape Fear Association, which stretched from

Cumberland County to New Hanover County. Elder W.T. Jordan preached the introductory

sermon and Elder D. Johnson was pastor of the host church.

The names of the Churches which formed the original Robeson Baptist Association

were Ashpole, Antioch, Back Swamp, Big Branch, Bear Swamp, Clybonsville, Cape Fear,

Cheerful Hope, Ephesus, Hog Swamp, Long Branch, Lumberton, Mount Elam, Mount Moriah,

Pleasant Grove, Pine Grove, Pleasant Hill, Providence, Raft Swamp, Red Springs,

Saddletree,  Spring Hill, Ten Mile, Tolarsville, White Pond and Zion’s Tabernacle.

We should honor and remember our Past! God has been good to Robeson Baptist

Association. We have seen many changes in our past and have some wonderful churches in

six counties. In the twentieth century our Association has been effective by presenting to our

churches the progress, methods, and ministries uniquely created by the Southern Baptist C

Convention. God has given our Association the opportunity to begin ministries and introduce

missions that met the needs of people in our communities. Our Associational structure has

provided a "pipeline" through which denominational information and programs could flow. This

was very effective as long as the programs would fit all churches in every community. The

"Church Age" has now given way to the Age of Missions.

Thank you Lord for how you have worked in our past. Help us not to live in yesterday.
